THE TREND TOWARDS "PRELIMINARY" PHONE INTERVIEWS

OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS, THERE HAS BEEN A STRONG TREND TOWARDS "PRELIMINARY" TELEPHONE INTERVIEWS OR SCREENINGS BY EMPLOYERS, (OR MORE APTLY, BY THE EMPLOYER'S ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF).

NOT SURPRIZINGLY, IN TODAY'S FAST PACED, HIGH VOLUME WORLD, THIS MAKES A GREAT DEAL OF SENSE, PARTICULARLY WHEN LOOKED AT FROM THE PREVAILING "TIME IS MONEY" POINT OF VIEW. A PHILOSOPHY WHICH SO OFTEN EXPRESSED AND BELIEVED AS TRUE IN TODAY'S WORKFORCE ECONOMY.

NEW YEAR'S RESOLVE

2013 is almost over, never to return. Along with the New Year, and its customary celebrations comes the requisite New Year's resolutions that everyone seems to make rather easily because it usually involves some task or commitment that they should have already completed, or accomplished over the past 12 months, (or longer), but did not.

This year, however, why not  be "resolute" (the root word of resolution) and commit to improving some aspect of your present career or actually taking the necessary steps to find a new (and better) one?

First Impressions...Count !

Some old cliché's are a bit overused and even a bit corny, but nevertheless, the eternal wisdom behind a particular clever phrase usually remains as valid as it ever was. In the context of looking for a better job or preparing for an upcoming job interview, for example, it is wise to remember that "you only get one chance to make a first impression"...or more to the point-you only get one chance to make a good first impression but you can make a bad impression over and over!

RESUME TIPS FROM ALLIED EMPLOYMENT-DOMESTICS

ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT WHILE IT IS VERY GOOD IDEA TO HAVE A STANDARD RESUME ON HAND, MORE OFTEN THAN NOT, IT MUST BE UPDATED TO BEST REFLECT YOUR RELEVANT WORK HISTORY AND CURRENT EMPLOYMENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND GOALS. THIS SHOULD BE DONE IN A MANNER THAT IS AS DIRECT AND TO THE POINT AS IS POSSIBLE IN A DOCUMENT THAT SHOULD BE NO MORE THAN TWO PAGES AT MOST, (REALISTICALLY SPEAKING, MOST EMPLOYERS ACTIVELY LOOKING TO HIRE HAVE CONSIDERED OR DISCARDED A JOB CANDIDATE'S RESUME BEFORE THE END OF THE SECOND PAGE).
